Things I love

Since the day he was born, Monarch has always been gentle and loving. His first visit was when he was 5 months old. He especially loves babies and is extra attentive if they are in a carrier or stroller. Monarch’s mother was very sick after he was born so he was raised hand-fed which most likely resulted in his caring nature. Monarch has a unique ability to know when he needs to stand very still while children have their arms around his neck or swinging or tugging on his long tail. Many times he is surrounded by 8-10 kids – either barefoot or wearing flip flops , have medical equipment attached or with disabilities.

The Walk with Me program has always been his favorite program. Monarch looks forward to walking with the children, whether it is at Ronald McDonald House, a visitor to the ranch or on Pet Partners yearly Walk with Me Day.

Monarch loves his pasture time, running with the other horses. He took his first test as a therapy horse with Pet Partners in May 2013 and received a complex rating. He has tested every two years since and has retained his complex status. Monarch is a very important role in the Just Say Whoa To Bullying program working alongside his sibling, Hero.
